Q: Tell us about your practice.
A: I practice business law and transactional work, with a focus on real estate transactions. I enjoy tackling complicated transactions with thornier issues involved. Those cases push me to exercise my creativity to accomplish my client’s goals.
Q: What’s something unexpected about your work?
A: I think prior to going to law school, I would have envisioned myself in the courtroom, but it didn’t work out that way. Instead, my job is to make sure that transactions are structured so that the courtroom can be avoided, whenever possible.
Q: Who is your favorite literary lawyer?
A: Blanding Cottshill from Robert Penn Warren’s novel Flood. He’s a philosophical, small-town, Tennessee lawyer with a lot of interesting things to say.
Q: Are you into sports?
A: Well, I like all three major sports: boxing, baseball, and horse racing. I think I was born about a hundred years too late.
Q: What's your favorite thing about working at Crary Huff?
A: The people. That's how I ended up here (a long way from my hometown of Woodville, Alabama). The people at Crary Huff and in our community are the reason why Sioux City is home for my family.
