Q: Tell us about your practice.
A: I work in family law and litigation. I enjoy the challenges of general litigation, and family law is fulfilling because I’m able to help people in very difficult situations and make the process smoother for them. I also serve as a mediator in family law cases.
Q: What got you interested in litigation?
A: My parents told me that I was tremendous at arguing and that I should consider a career in law. When I graduated from college, I shadowed a couple of attorneys and decided it was something I would enjoy.
Q: What accomplishments are you especially proud of?
A: I was part of the team that worked on a meat products case known as the “pink slime” case. It was the largest piece of litigation that South Dakota had ever seen. A news organization had repeatedly referred to our client’s product in a defamatory way. We filed a defamation suit, and it was settled after many months of hard work. It was incredible to be part of such a high-profile, high-stakes situation.
Q: What do you do when you’re not working?
A: My husband and I have three boys. So, when I’m not working, I'm usually sitting on a bleacher watching a ball game or watching my Oklahoma Sooners on TV.
